In the Letter to the Ephesians St. Paul writes of the relationship of husband and wife in marriage as a sign that points to the mystery of Jesus’s love for the Church. (Ephesians 5:32). Jon and Jess were married at St Mary’s on Monday after the need of a very last-minute change of venue.

So, perhaps it is providential that they began their marriage not with everything going ‘according to plan’, but with a reminder that love isn’t about plans. It’s about presence. It’s about commitment. It’s about choosing one another even when the path looks different than expected. That’s true for them and for us his Church.
