Church Camp 2025: Under the Stars and Stronger Together
Thank you to Michele for the account of this year’s Church Camp.
Our recent church camping trip was a beautiful mix of fun, faith, and fellowship. This year’s adventure had everything - the smell of BBQ drifting through the trees, kids swinging in the hammock, and of course, the sacred evening ritual of gathering around the campfire. With marshmallows in hand and sticky fingers everywhere, the sun dipped below the horizon.
We looked up at the night sky—so clear and vast, it made the hustle of everyday life seem miles away. There was something sacred about that silence, that stillness. We pointed out the Big Dipper and the North Star, saw shooting stars and all agreed how amazing God’s creation really is.
The next day brought our much-anticipated Sports Day, and let me tell you—our competitive spirit was alive and well. There were sack races that nearly ended in a wipeout (for the adults!) and laughter echoing through the campsite. But the best of all? The tug of war. Let’s just say the men came with confidence. Perhaps too confident. But the women? Oh, they came ready. With strategy and strength they dug in and pulled with everything they had. The rope tightened, the men’s heels started slipping, and with one final heave—down they went. The cheer that went up could’ve been heard three campsites over. The women high fived and someone declared it “an act of divine strength.” We didn’t argue (and we won’t talk about the rematch, let’s focus on the positives).
By the end of the weekend, we were sore, sun-kissed, and full of gratitude. Not just for the food, or the games, or even the peaceful beauty of nature—but for each other. For a church family that laughs together, prays together, and, apparently, wins tug of war together. From quiet moments under the stars to joyful shouts on the field, it was a weekend that reminded us how blessed we are to grow together as a church family.
