Pew News - 10 Aug 2025

As we continue through a quieter August in terms of services at St Mary’s I can’t help wondering if it was God reminding me or just coincidence that on Monday morning, I happened to read the account of Jesus’ encounter with the Woman of Samaria (John 4).

Jesus’ statement to the woman clearly asserts that worship of God is not about venues, sites, or structures. He says: “the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem”. Worship will be in Spirit and truth. His statement doesn’t minimise the importance of the Temple, or any place of worship; it does, however, stress the point that such places do not make the worship more effective or more pleasant to God. Jesus suggests that while the designated places of worship are important, they are not the only places where God can be worshipped.

Where have/will you worship in August. Why not let Bev know (and send some photos) so we can all see the many places God has been worshipped during August. Please email Bev at office@sholing.church
